Steve Kerr, Warriors GM React to Draymond Green’s Game 3 Suspension

Golden State’s coach said that “there’s no stopping Draymond” once his temper is activated.

The Warriors will take the court for Thursday’s Game 3 against the Kings looking to avoid falling into a 3–0 series hole. They’ll do so without Draymond Green following the veteran forward’s one-game suspension for stomping on the chest of Kings center Domantas Sabonis—and on Wednesday, Golden State’s top executive and head coach shared their thoughts on the situation.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers told reporters the day before Game 3 that he emphasized to Green that the attention should remain on the team ahead of the most pivotal game of the season, and acknowledged his history of facing on-court discipline.

“Each time he’s messed up, my hope is he learns from it and becomes better … Without him, we probably don’t have any of the championships,” Myers said, per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. “But he’s a complicated guy, for sure.”

Warriors coach Steve Kerr echoed some of Myers’s sentiments, and admitted that Green has “crossed the line over the years.” He also said the team stands behind Green, and revealed what it’s like trying to talk with the four-time All-Star while his temper has been activated.

“It doesn’t seem to make much impact. … There’s no stopping Draymond,” Kerr said, per Letourneau. “You’re not going to be able to put your arm around him and calm him down.”

The Warriors and Kings will meet at Chase Center for Game 3, with tipoff set for 10 p.m. ET.
