Donovan Mitchell Offers Brutally Blunt Evaluation of Cavaliers’ Game 4 Loss to Knicks

Donovan Mitchell faced heat from every direction after the Cavaliers’ Game 4 loss to the Knicks on Sunday, in large part because of his disappointing play. But no one was a harsher critic than himself.

“I played like s---,” Mitchell said after Cleveland’s 102–93 loss, per the New York Post

Mitchell, regarded as one of the top guards in the NBA, scored just 11 points on 5-for-18 shooting from the field. He also turned the ball over six times for the second consecutive game and went 0-for-4 from behind the arc.

“At the end of the day, I had probably the second- or third-worst playoff game of my career,” Mitchell said. “I didn’t show up for my guys, ultimately. Everybody did their job. We had our faults as a group, but ultimately, I didn’t do what I was supposed to do and I take that, and I got to just be better.”

Mitchell explained that New York sent a lot of double teams his way, but he added that a lot of his shots “just didn’t go in.”

“I didn’t show up for my guys, and that’s on me,” he added.

Game 5 in Cleveland is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
