Just hours ahead of Thursday’s NBA draft, there’s been a bit of a shift at the top. The Hornets, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft, have been torn between Alabama’s Brandon Miller or the G League Ignite’s Scoot Henderson and it appears there’s momentum towards Charlotte selecting Henderson, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania

The team has final meetings today and will decide who will be selected. Hornets general manager Mitch Kupchak told reporters Wednesday that owner Michael Jordan will have the final say on who the team selects. On Friday, the organization announced that Jordan has agreed to sell his majority stake in the franchise, however. So whatever decision he makes, he won’t be around as the owner much longer to see how it plays out.

Henderson, a 6'2" point guard, played this past season in the G League where he averaged 16.5 points, 6.8 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game. Charlotte already has All-Star LaMelo Ball as a point guard, so it would be interesting to see how the two would coexist in the backcourt should the team go in that direction.

Meanwhile, Henderson is 6'9" forward who was putting up 18.8 points, 8.2 boards and 2.1 assists per contest for the Crimson Tide. Alabama finished the season atop the SEC with a 31–6 record before losing to San Diego State during the Sweet 16 round of March Madness

It’s well known that the Spurs will select Victor Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick, so all eyes will look to Charlotte to see what the team does at the No. 2 spot. The draft starts Thursday at 8 p.m. and can be watched on ESPN or ABC.
