With veteran point guard Chris Paul joining the Warriors for the 2023–24 season after a trade from the Wizards, his new teammate Draymond Green is excited to see how the 12-time All-Star can help some of Golden State’s younger players.

While speaking on Paul George’s Podcast P, Green said he’s specifically interested to see how Paul will “unlock” 20-year-old forward Jonathan Kuminga this upcoming season.

“I think Chris Paul will completely unlock Jonathan Kuminga and his growth,” Green said. “CP is great with young guys. Deandre Ayton looked like a bust before CP came to Phoenix. No disrespect to Ayton, more so a nod to CP. What he would do for Jonathan Kuminga and unlocking Kuminga is huge.”

Kuminga primarily has played off the bench in his first two NBA seasons, averaging 9.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Last season, his 9.9-point average ranked highest on the team among nonstarters.

Now, it sounds as if Green thinks there’s still a lot more potential for Kuminga.
