Heat’s Tyler Herro Shares Epic Response to Damian Lillard Trade
There was a time, 24 short hours ago, when the Heat were viewed as contenders to trade for then-Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. Miami guard Tyler Herro, the 2022 Sixth Man of the Year, was speculated to be part of a potential return package.
However, Portland opted to deal Lillard to the Bucks instead in a three-team swap with the Suns. Still only 23, Herro appears set to remain on the Heat entering 2024.
Thursday afternoon, Herro commented on the Lillard trade, becoming the second Heat player to do so (following a co-sign of Heat forward Jimmy Butler's joke about Milwaukee tampering).
"In all seriousness… as a kid from Milwaukee, I’m grabbing me a Dame jersey," Herro said.
Herro was born in Milwaukee and attended high school in Greenfield, Wis., a commuter town 11 miles outside the Cream City. He was originally committed to Wisconsin before flipping to Kentucky on Nov. 14, 2017.
Lillard's Bucks and Herro's Miami team will square off mere days into the 2024 season, on Oct. 30 in Milwaukee.
