Jayson Tatum Gave Jrue Holiday a Hilarious Reality Check Ahead of His Celtics Debut
Jrue Holiday made his Celtics debut on Wednesday night to kick off his 15th NBA season.
His new Boston teammate Jayson Tatum gave Holiday a warm welcome, but had to throw in a quick reality check as they talked before tip off against the Knicks.
“You played against T-Mac [Tracy McGrady] and you played with me. You old, my brotha,” Tatum said.
McGrady retired in 2013 after playing for 16 years. He was drafted to the league one year before Tatum was born, so it makes sense why it was tough for the Celtics star to comprehend that.
At 33 years old, Holiday isn’t nearly the oldest active NBA player (that title is held by 38-year-old LeBron James this season), but he did join a relatively young Celtics team. Still, Holiday isn’t even the oldest Celtics player—Al Horford is 37.
Holiday was traded to Boston after originally being traded to Portland from Milwaukee within the Damian Lillard deal.
