Giannis Antetokounmpo Said the Bucks Are Damian Lillard’s Team and No One Believed Him

NBA fans were quick to call the Milwaukee star out for this comment.

Before Damian Lillard stepped on the court Thursday night to make his Bucks debut, Milwaukee star Giannis Antetokounmpo went viral for a comment he made about his new teammate.

Although Antetokounmpo has spent his entire NBA career with the Bucks, led them to an NBA title in 2021 and has won the NBA MVP two times, the forward told Bleacher Report that “this is his [Lillard’s] team.”

Fans were flabbergasted by this statement as Lillard only joined the team a month ago on Oct. 27 in a blockbuster three-team trade. This move came after the former Trail Blazers guard spent months expressing his desire to become a member of the Heat.

Many NBA fans saw Antetokounmpo’s comment about Lillard as a way for the star to appear humble. Lillard is another big NBA star, but he’s never won an NBA title or MVP like Antetokounmpo.
