Dillon Brooks Has Message for LeBron James on Eve of First Showdown Since Last Season’s Playoffs

The Rockets swingman seems to have brought his provocative streak to his new home.

He's at it again.

Rockets (and former Grizzlies) swingman Dillon Brooks spent much of last season in a protracted, wantonly self-destructive feud with the NBA's elite—most notably Lakers forward LeBron James. James seemed to triumph in the "rivalry" once and for all in April, as Los Angeles ousted Memphis in six games in the first round of the playoffs.

Between the Grizzlies' loss, his subsequent icy exit from Memphis, and a FIBA World Cup that seemed to show a more focused side of the Ontario native, Brooks appeared to be turning over a new leaf. However, old habits die hard, and Brooks issued a message to James ahead of Houston's game against the Lakers Wednesday.

"I'm ready to lock him up," Brooks said. "He's been shooting the ball well, he's been playing well, so I'm just there to make him tired, make him get into that fourth quarter early."

James, who will turn 39 on Dec. 30, is averaging 25.3 points per game in his 21st season in the league. Brooks is off to a solid start as well, averaging career highs in rebounds (4.7) and steals (1.3) across his first six games.
