Sixers star Tyrese Maxey scored his first-ever 50-point game on Sunday night, dominating in Philadelphia’s win over the Pacers.

The 23-year-old recorded his career-high in scoring while attempting 32 field goals in the game, and knocking down 7-of-11 threes, including a difficult step-back three late in the fourth quarter to reach the coveted 50-point milestone.

After his career night, Maxey dedicated his performance to 76ers teammate Kelly Oubre Jr., who was injured after getting hit by a car on Saturday night.

“Man, this had nothing to do with me,” said Maxey. “This is all Kelly Oubre, man. We’re praying for him. Love our dog. I just met him but I love him.”

Oubre was reportedly struck by a car near his residence in Philadelphia on Saturday evening. According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Oubre sustained a fractured rib in the incident and is expected to miss some time.

Maxey selflessly wished his teammate well, admitting that despite only having played alongside Oubre for a handful of games, he had nothing but love for the 27-year-old.

The fourth-year point guard is shining for the 76ers with James Harden out of the picture. In nine games this season, Maxey is averaging 30.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. He’s scored 22 or more points in eight of nine games, emerging as an All-Star, and potentially even All-NBA, candidate.

Prior to Sunday night, Maxey’s career high was 44 points, which he set in late October last season against the Raptors.
