While some sports media figures have had issues properly pronouncing the name of Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs’ rookie standout encountered a new issue Friday night against the Warriors.

The star rookie needed to change his jersey midway through the first quarter after the emerging talent took the floor wearing a jersey with his name spelled incorrectly.

Instead of the nameplate on the back of the jersey displaying “Wembanyama,” his name was spelled incorrectly as “Wembanyana” with an “n” in place of the final “m.”

The 2023 No. 1 overall pick is making a tremendous impact in his rookie campaign, averaging 18.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.6 blocks per game.

The NBA world immediately reacted to the mistake made by the Spurs’ equipment manager.
