The Lakers officially hung their in-season tournament championship banner on Monday, and fans had plenty of jokes.

The Lakers announced shortly after winning the inaugural tournament their plans to add a banner to the rafters to commemorate the championship, with room on the banner to accommodate all future in-season tournament titles.

They officially unveiled the banner in a brief ceremony prior to the team’s game against the Knicks, and while it was certainly a more muted celebration than after winning a NBA championship, it didn’t stop fans from cracking jokes at the team’s expense.

Here’s a brief look at the celebration.

Maybe in the future the in-season tournament crown will be seen as a big deal, but for now, fans had a hard time seeing one of the NBA’s most storied franchises adding a banner for an upstart tournament to the rafters alongside some of the greatest championship teams in NBA history.

Here’s some of the best roasts from the internet on the matter.
