Anthony Davis Hints At Lakers’ Desperation With Quote After Fourth Straight Loss
Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers are in a slump.
The Lakers lost 118–111 to the Western Conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night, their fourth straight loss and fifth in the last six games since winning the NBA’s inaugural in-season tournament in Las Vegas.
After coming up empty again, Davis is going so far as to call the Lakers’ upcoming matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday a “must win.”
That comment came less than 24 hours after Davis got honest with reporters following a loss to the Chicago Bulls.
“There’s no break coming,” Davis told reporters in the locker room Wednesday night. “No help coming. No calvary. We’ve got to do it within this locker room.”
Davis finished the loss against the Wolves with 31 points and eight rebounds on 11-of-20 shooting. He was out-dueled by the Timberwolves’ big lineup that saw all five starters finish in double figures.
It doesn’t get much easier for the Lakers over the next week. After visiting Minnesota, the Lakers wrap up their road trip against the Thunder on Saturday and host the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day.
