San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama was scratched from Saturday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks after appearing to injure himself during his pregame warmup routine.

Wembanyama was working out with San Antonio’s assistant coaches when he drove to the basket and landed on the foot of a ball boy who was standing on the baseline watching the rookie’s routine.

Wembanyama continued to take a few more reps to try to work through the tweak to his foot and ankle area, but walked off the floor to the locker room with a look of exasperation on his face.

Despite Wembanyama’s strong play as a rookie, the Spurs have sputtered to a 4–23 start to the season. Saturday marks just the third game of the year that Wembanyama has missed.

In 25 starts this season, he’s averaged 18.5 points and 10.7 rebounds on 43.7% shooting from the floor in 30.2 minutes per game.
