Hornets Announcer Absolutely Lost It Over Game-Clinching Free Throws vs. Timberwolves
The Charlotte Hornets performed a miraculous comeback Monday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and one announcer went viral for his perfect call of the game’s final moments.
Eric Collins, the play-by-play announcer for the Hornets on Bally Sports Southeast, absolutely lost it when Charlotte rookie Leaky Black was at the free-throw line with 1.7 seconds left on the clock and his team up by just one point. The 24-year-old had never made a free throw in the NBA.
“He’s never made a free throw as a pro ... BUT HE HAS NOW!” Collins screamed when Black made the shot.
The Hornets went on to win the game 128–125 to complete the 18-point comeback and spoiled Karl-Anthony Towns’s career night where he scored 62 points.

The internet also loved when Collins couldn’t control himself at the end of the first half when Towns shot a three-pointer from a different area code during an ultimate heat check. It was Towns’s eighth three-pointer in the half.
“NOOOOO!” Collins screamed before the shot went in. “AAHHHH!”
Never change, Collins, never change.
