Latest Zach LaVine Trade Rumors Inject New Team Into Mix For Bulls Guard, per Report
Since Zach LaVine trade rumors began circulating early in the 2023-24 NBA season, the buzz surrounding the Chicago Bulls guard has quieted significantly. It appeared initially that a move to the Los Angeles Lakers was a realistic possibility, but early in January, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said there was “not a market” for LaVine.
But according to the latest report on LaVine’s future, there seem to be discussions about a potential deal with the Detroit Pistons, according to The Athletic’s James L. Edwards III.
Unfortunately for the Bulls, they may have run into a wall in regard to the asking price for LaVine. Although the Pistons currently hold an NBA-worst 5-39 record, they apparently aren’t interested in trading players they view as “blue-chip pieces.” That group includes four players: guards Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, forward Ausar Thompson and big man Jalen Duren.
The Bulls reportedly want one of those four young players and Bojan Bogdanović in the package for LaVine, according to Edwards.
Chicago understandably wants to get as much value as possible for LaVine. But as of now, it appears the Bulls may have a hard time unloading his hefty contract while also receiving significant value in return. LaVine still is owed roughly $178 million on the five-year deal he signed back in 2022.
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. ET
