Luka Doncic Apologizes for Dispute With Heckling Suns Fan: ‘When I’m Wrong, I Admit It’

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, who requested the removal of a heckling Phoenix Suns fan from Wednesday’s game at the American Airlines Center, apologized for his actions on Thursday during an appearance on TNT’s NBA Tip-Off.

Doncic previously explained that the fan had been berating him throughout the game prior to the final straw moment which came early into the second half. During his postgame press conference, Doncic criticized ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, whom he felt was attempting to stir the pot with his reporting on the situation.

Despite that, the 24-year-old admitted he was in the wrong, and offered an apology on Thursday.

“It was the whole game, a little bit. But I was really frustrated that we were losing. I twisted my ankle in the first half, it was just a lot of emotions. Probably shouldn’t have done that. When I’m wrong I admit it, so probably shouldn’t have done that. But it was just the whole game going on,” said Doncic.

According to ESPN, Doncic requested the removal of the fan after the heckler yelled, “Luka, you’re tired! Get your ass on the treadmill!” Doncic proceeded to wave down the Mavericks’ vice president of stadium security in order to have the fan ejected.

Doncic led Dallas with 34 points during the 132–109 loss against Phoenix, which marked the Mavericks’ third consecutive defeat, and fifth loss in their last seven games.
