The Brooklyn Nets welcomed back Ben Simmons on Monday after a lengthy injury absence, as he suited up for his first game since Nov. 6.

Simmons, who had been dealing with a back injury, enjoyed a successful return to the court and even flirted with a triple-double during the Nets’ win over the Utah Jazz.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Simmons said that he felt locked in from the moment he checked into the game. He let his teammates know he meant business, too.

“I told them as soon as we checked in. They know what time it is,” said Simmons. “I think certain guys know what it’s like to play with me, and where their shot is gonna come from, so for us it’s easy. It’s just about sharing the ball and playing the right way.”

Simmons certainly made it look easy on Monday night. In what was just his seventh game of the 2023-24 season, the 27-year-old recorded 10 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds, knocking down all five of his field goal attempts, including a fast break dunk just moments after he checked into the game.

“It’s always a fast break when I have the ball,” joked Simmons.

Injuries have kept the guard sidelined for much of the past two seasons. Since being acquired by Brooklyn during the 2021-22 season, Simmons has featured in just 49 games for the franchise.

Finally healthy again, he looked fresh and energized in his return, not showing any signs of rust after nearly three months on the sideline.
