Warriors Among ‘Multiple Teams’ Turned Away in Alex Caruso Trade Pursuit, per Report
The Golden State Warriors have been cited in various rumors ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline—and considering their 21–25 record, it’s not surprising. Among the latest rumors involving Golden State is a link to Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso, as K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago reported.
Per Johnson: “League sources indicated that even before [Zach] LaVine’s surgery news had broken, multiple teams, including the Golden State Warriors, had inquired on Caruso. To this point, management largely had rebuffed interest in Caruso because an internal focus centered on chasing a playoff spot.”
But although the Warriors reportedly inquired about Caruso, they, like every other interested potential suitor, were turned away by the Bulls. The looming question will be whether Chicago guard Zach LaVine’s decision to undergo season-ending surgery could lead to a change in the team’s plans for Caruso and/or DeMar DeRozan, another possible trade candidate.

But from the sound of it, as of Sunday, the Bulls front office may not be certain which path it wants to take. Chicago coach Billy Donovan said when something is “imminent,” management will bring it to him, but he hadn’t heard any update on the team’s current plans ahead of the trade deadline, per NBC Sports Chicago.
The Warriors remain likely to shake things up in some fashion before the deadline, as names such as Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul continue to be floated by insiders. It recently was reported that everyone outside of Stephen Curry was on the table in potential trade talks, which The Athletic’s Shams Charania highlighted on FanDuel’s Run It Back.
Steve Kerr’s squad will be one of the top teams to monitor over the coming days, potentially for Caruso, should the Bulls consider offers for him.
