Miami Heat forward Haywood Highsmith was involved in a car accident driving home after the Heat's 121–95 win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday evening, the team announced in a Wednesday afternoon release.

"Our hearts go out to those who were injured," Miami wrote in its statement. "We will have no further comment at this time."

Highsmith—whose condition is unknown—is listed as out for the Heat's game Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs due to "personal reasons."

In the Heat's win, Highsmith played three minutes but did not record a point, rebound or assist.

Highsmith, 27, is in his fourth NBA season. He played briefly in 2019 for the Philadelphia 76ers, bounced between the G League and German league from 2020-21, and caught on with Miami in 2022.

This season, Highsmith has started 24 of the Heat's 37 games. He has averaged career highs in points (5.8), assists (1.1) and minutes (20.7) per game.

Miami is currently 27–24, seventh in the Eastern Conference and 1.5 games back of the sixth-place Indiana Pacers.
