The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly added depth to their backcourt Wednesday.

Minnesota sent Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and one second-round pick to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for 28-year-old guard Monte Morris, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday, citing sources.

Morris suffered a right quadricep strain in November and finally made his season debut Jan. 24 for Detroit. In six games, Morris is averaging 4.5 points on 36.4% shooting from the field.

Over the prior five seasons—four with the Denver Nuggets and 2022-23 with the Washington Wizards—Morris logged 10.5 points and 4.0 assists in 25.8 minutes per game. He started 74 games for the Nuggets in 2021-22, the year before Denver was crowned champions.

Morris gives the Timberwolves depth at point guard behind veteran Mike Conley. Backup guard Jordan McLaughlin has filled that role for most of the season, registering 2.7 points and 1.8 assists in 9.3 minutes per contest.

Milton, signed to a two-year, $10 million deal in June, never found his rhythm in Minnesota. He logged 4.7 points on 26.4% shooting from three-point range in a limited role (12.9 minutes per game).

Brown, who also signed a two-year deal with the Wolves this offseason, posted 4.2 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game.

It’s the second trade Detroit has completed Wednesday, as the Pistons acquired wing Simone Fontecchio in a trade with the Utah Jazz earlier in the day
