Hornets Acquire Seth Curry, Grant Williams From Mavericks, per Report
The Dallas Mavericks are trading Seth Curry, Grant Williams and a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for P.J. Washington, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. It’s a lightly protected first-rounder.
The first-round pick is a 2027 selection and the Hornets are also sending two second-round picks as part of the deal, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Washington, a 2019 first-round pick, is currently averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 44.6% shooting from the field this season. Curry, who grew up in Charlotte as the son of former Hornets guard Dell Curry, is averaging 4.3 points per game. He’s started in three of his 36 games played.
Williams is averaging 8.1 points per game in his fifth year out of Tennessee and will be joining a 10–40 Charlotte squad that’s currently sitting at the No. 13 seed in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Dallas is the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference at 28–23.
