In this age of player empowerment and media democratization, seemingly every player in the NBA has a podcast, or at least a means of telling their own story.

Few, however, are able to actually use their platforms to break news about themselves—traditionally the domain of ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, The Athletic's Shams Charania, and other insiders.

However, that may no longer be the case. On Thursday, upon being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Milwaukee Bucks for a reported package of guard Cam Payne and a second-round pick, veteran guard Patrick Beverley took to his eponymous podcast's social channels to announce the transaction to the world—a full four minutes before Wojnarowski and five minutes before Charania tweeted accordingly.

Naturally, fans and observers got a kick out of Beverley playing insider.

Many didn't believe what they were seeing.

Some joked about the prospect of Beverley jumping the gun.

Many implied, or said outright, that such behavior was not out of character for Beverley...

...who had some fun with Wojnarowski and Charania in 2023.
