Vanessa Bryant Had Perfect NSFW Quote for Critics of Kobe Statue
Vanessa Bryant doesn't care what critics have to say about her late husband Kobe Bryant's statue.
The Los Angeles Lakers honored Bryant, who tragically died in a helicopter accident in January of 2020, on Thursday night, unveiling a 19-foot, bronze statue—one of three that Bryant's family and the organization will be constructing—commemorating the game when Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors back in 2006.
The statue features Bryant, surrounded by five replica championship trophies, pointing up to the sky.
The late Lakers star’s wife offered some thoughts about the likeness, then had a blunt, NSFW message for anyone who didn’t like the pose, which she says Kobe himself chose, in a moment captured by ClutchPoints.
Good for Vanessa Bryant, who should be able to honor the Lakers legend any way that she and the rest of the family feel is best.
And this statue certainly does that.
It features a triangle-shaped base—a nod to the Lakers’ triangle offense—a quote from Bryant and a QR code that fans can scan to pull up a Bryant highlight video narrated by Denzel Washington onto their cell phones.
It's difficult to think of a better way to honor Bryant.
