There has been much debate surrounding the future of LeBron James. Specifically, many wonder whether the NBA superstar will stay with the Los Angeles Lakers through the remainder of his career.

But ESPN insider Brian Windhorst believes James’s tenure in Los Angeles is far from over, stating that he thinks James is “angling” to sign a multiyear deal with the franchise this offseason.

“I don’t think this is LeBron’s last stand. I don’t think this is the Lakers’ last stand,” Windhorst said on ESPN’s First Take. “First off, I think LeBron is angling to sign a multiyear deal in the offseason with the Lakers that will be nine figures. That will be even bigger than the deal he is on now.

“Now, whether or not he’s able to finish that deal, whether or not the Lakers want to give him a three-year contract and pay him $60 million when he’s 42 years old, that’s a different discussion.”

James is under contract through this season and holds a player option for 2024-25. What the 39-year-old superstar will opt to do has been a talking point, especially considering the Lakers currently sit as the No. 9 seed in a tough Western Conference.
