Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young playfully teased a future All-Star three-point challenge against Iowa standout Caitlin Clark on Thursday.

In an interview with Bleacher Report’s Taylor Rooks, Young said he was all in on a potential long-range shooting matchup against the Hawkeyes senior guard.

“Of course. Of course I would,” Young said when asked whether he would participate in a Caitlin-Trae three-point contest. “I’ve gotten to talk to her throughout her college years. We’re the only two people that ever led college in points and assists. That’s a crazy stat.”

Young threw in a light-hearted joke about the future showdown: “I’d have to definitely practice a lot more than I have for these previous three-point competitions.”

The 22-year-old Clark became the leading scorer in major college basketball history—men’s or women’s—on Sunday, passing Pete Maravich’s previous record of 3,667 points. She is currently averaging 32.3 points per game this season.

Young, who became the first player to lead the NCAA in points and assists per game in a single season during his college hooping days at Oklahoma in 2017–18, also knows a thing or two about making history.

Seeing the two superstars face off on the court may serve as the perfect second round to this year’s landmark All-Star three-point challenge between Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry and New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu—or, perhaps, a partnered him vs. her shootout is in the cards.
