Wizards Broadcaster Feared Jordan Poole Would Attempt Shot From His Backside

The fans at Capital One Arena were egging the guard on, too.

Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole nearly attempted a wild shot during Wednesday night’s game vs. the Orlando Magic.

When Poole got ahold of the ball and ran down court in the first quarter, he ended up tripping onto the ground. He somehow maintained possession of the ball while he sat up on his butt. For a split second, it appeared that Poole contemplated throwing up a shot while he sat there.

The crowd at the Capital One Arena clearly wanted Poole to try the shot, but the Wizards announcers were hopeful against him doing so.

“Is he going to shoot it?” one announcer said on the Monumental Sports Network broadcast.

“Don’t do it,” another said.

Instead of attempting the shot, Poole passed the ball to Bilal Coulibaly, who then made a successful layup.

In hindsight, it was probably the best move, although fans sounded disappointed in Poole not taking a risk. The Wizards have only won nine games this season, so fans probably wanted to see something more exciting on the court.
