Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards registered the block of the year in the NBA on Thursday night, soaring to the rim to block the potential game-tying layup of Indiana Pacers wing Aaron Nesmith as time expired.

Edwards jumped so high that he hit his head on the rim as he exhibited incredible levels of athleticism that few in the NBA possess.

Edwards spoke about the play immediately following the game.

“Yeah, I hit my head,” Edwards said with a chuckle. “I think on the rim. It’s hurting real bad. And I landed on my wrist. But I mean, you know, I saw him with the lane. I knew he was going for the layup, and I was just like, ‘Man, I’m gonna go get this.’ I ain’t never jumped that high in my life.”

The block from Edwards was the key highlight in a 113–111 win for Minnesota, but it only scratched the surface of the game that the Timberwolves star played. He finished with 44 points, six rebounds and three assists in 39 minutes.

Minnesota improved to 44–19 on the season, and remains the top seed in the West.
