Timberwolves Teammates Troll Mike Conley for Not Dunking on Wide-Open Fast Break

The vibes of the 2023–24 Minnesota Timberwolves continue to be immaculate.

With the regular season winding down and the Timberwolves fighting for the Western Conference's No. 1 seed instead of battling for a playoff spot like in years prior, the team took a moment Friday to poke fun at one of its veteran leaders.

During the second quarter of a matchup against the Atlanta Hawks at Target Center, the 36-year-old Conley found himself with a wide-open path to the basket after a turnover. Conley dribbled the ball three times and rolled in a clean layup for two points.

The Timberwolves' bench, however, was not having it. Multiple players on the bench broke into big smiles and shook their heads in disappointment that Conley didn't go for the dunk. Minnesota center Karl-Anthony Towns, playing in his first game since March 4, jokingly gave Conley a thumbs down on the court.

According to NBA tracking data, Conley hasn't thrown down a dunk in a game since April 4, 2017 when he was 29 years old and still playing for the Memphis Grizzlies.

At halftime, the Timberwolves led the Hawks 56–47. They will wrap up the 2023–24 regular season Sunday with a matchup at home against the Phoenix Suns.
