The Chicago Bulls will face the Miami Heat on Friday thanks mostly to a 42-point performance from Chicago guard Coby White in Wednesday night's play-in tournament 131–116 win over the Atlanta Hawks.

White's 42 points is a new career high for the starting guard, although the play-in numbers won't count toward his official stats. He also added nine rebounds and six assists to his stat line in the victory

The United Center erupted in "Coby" cheers throughout the second half, especially in the fourth quarter when the Bulls dominated over the Hawks. With Chicago now set to take on Miami, the winner of Friday night's game will seal a date with the No. 1 Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

White averaged 19.1 points per game throughout the 2023–24 season. His season-high in points came on March 4 vs. the Sacramento Kings when he scored 37 points.

The 24-year-old signed a three-year, $36 million deal ahead of this season, which will run through the 2025–26 campaign. White has been a Bull his entire NBA career since the franchise drafted him seventh overall in 2019.

NBA fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, absolutely loved seeing White shine in the play-in game. Check out some of the social media reactions.
