It turns out the Batum family keeps all the receipts.

When Nicolas Batum stepped up to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 105-104 victory over the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, his wife took to social media to clap back at his critics.

Batum went 7-of-12 for 20 points and shot 60% from beyond the arc in the play-in tournament win against the Heat, sending Philadelphia through to the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. The 76ers forward’s best performance of the season came years after he caught a nasty stray in a viral rap song.

In 2022, L.A. hip-hop duo Blue Bucks Clan freestyled a lyric that went, “Fourth quarter why the f--- Batum in.” Batum was playing for the Los Angeles Clippers at the time.

During the 76ers-Heat game, Batum’s wife, Lily, retweeted a clip of Batum draining one of his six three-pointers of the night with the following caption, “This is why the f--- Batum in.”

Lily Batum hasn’t been shy about supporting her husband in the past. Last October, after Batum was sent to Philly as part of the James Harden trade, Lily Batum posted a screenshot of a quote from Lauren Holiday, Jrue Holiday’s wife, which detailed her grievances over Jrue getting traded by the Milwaukee Bucks without prior notice.

On Wednesday, Batum, who has played on four different NBA teams in his 17-year career, recorded his first 20-point outing since March 2023. He averaged 5.3 points per game while shooting 39.9% from three in 57 appearances for the 76ers in the regular season.

Philadelphia will face the No. 2-seeded New York Knicks in Game 1 of the opening round playoff series on Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
