Anthony Edwards’ Old Soundbite on Kevin Durant Goes Viral After T-Wolves’ Game 2 Win

A 2023 clip has made Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards sound like an all-knowing basketball prophet.

Edwards briefly talked about Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant in an interview during All-Star Week last year, telling reporters, “They got KD, but we got Jaden McDaniels.”

At the time, his comment led to some jokes on social media given the unnatural comparison. Fast forward a year later to Game 2 of the Timberwolves-Suns playoff series on Tuesday, and it turns out Edwards may have been onto something.

Edwards’s teammate, Jaden McDaniels, went off for a career-best 25 points leading Minnesota to a thrilling 105-93 victory and a 2-0 start to the series. McDaniels’s offense may have only been surpassed by his defense, as the Suns’ big three—Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal—combined to shoot 18-of-45. Durant in particular had a meager shooting night going 6-of-15 for 18 points, stymied all night by McDaniels’s aggression off the ball.

NBA fans marveled at McDaniels’s stellar Game 2 outing as well as Edwards’s eerily correct prediction.

McDaniels himself even addressed the old clip in a postgame press conference and said, “Ant know what he talking about.”
