76ers Downgrade Reserve Options vs. Rockets
On Monday afternoon, the Philadelphia 76ers are going to take on the Houston Rockets, as they look to build on their win against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
Against the Kings, Tobias Harris erupted for a season-high 37 points, on an impressive 56 percent from the field, marking his second straight 30+ point performance.
Tyrese Maxey managed to follow suit with 21 points of his own, which would be more than enough to suppress De'Aaron Fox's 21-point outing.
The Sixers' partnership had to make up for the lack of scoring left by Joel Embiid, who sat out for his third straight game due to inflammation in his left knee.
Yet, the Cameroonian superstar wasn't the only player on the bench, as Robert Covington was sidelined for the same reason.
Friday night would be the 33-year-old's fifth straight absence, failing to appear for Philadelphia since January 2.
It appears that his streak is set to continue as Covington is set to be out against the Rockets on Monday due to inflammation in his left knee.
The 33-year-old may not be alone on the bench as Mo Bamba has been downgraded to doubtful as he is suffering from an impingement in his right knee.
Bamba has been playing a critical role, alongside Paul Reed, filling in for the injured Embiid, coming off the bench more often than not, averaging 17 minutes of gametime.
Over the previous four matches, Bamba has been averaging six points, four rebounds, and two blocks per game.
With Embiid listed as questionable, Nick Nurse may have to shift to other alternatives when the time comes for Reed to take a breather.
The Sixers will take on the Rockets on Monday afternoon, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST.
