76ers’ Jaden Springer Deals With Injury Setback
The Philadelphia 76ers have been shipping their former first-round pick, Jaden Springer, back and forth between the main roster and the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats.
As Springer’s playing time with the Sixers has been limited as a result of a crowded backcourt, the sophomore guard garners more playing time in the G League, which is ideal for Springer’s development.
Unfortunately, the second-year veteran is dealing with a setback.
According to a team official, Springer suffered a right quadriceps strain this week. As a result, the second-year guard will be out for at least a week, which is when the Sixers will re-evaluate him.
This year, Springer appeared in just two games with the Sixers’ main roster. Both of his appearances came in garbage time. When the Blue Coats fired up their season a couple of weeks back, Springer got the nod to start in Delaware’s first few games.
In three games of action, Springer averaged 30 minutes on the floor. During that time, he drained 44 percent of his shots and 40 percent of his threes while producing 15 points and three assists per game. On defense, Springer averaged two steals and three rebounds per game.
With the Sixers set to return to the court on Friday night to face the Milwaukee Bucks, Springer has been recalled for the second time in a week. While he remains out, the young guard will likely be a presence on Philadelphia’s bench when they face the Bucks.
Meanwhile, the Blue Coats will continue their schedule on Friday night with a matchup against Raptors 905 in Wilmington, Delaware. Friday’s game marks the second Blue Coats game Springer won’t participate in as he’s injured and recalled by Philadelphia.
