76ers’ New Addition Set for Double-Header on Thursday
On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to face the New York Knicks in their first game back from the 2024 NBA All-Star break.
Not only does the game serve as the return for the Sixers, who are looking to make a strong run during the final stretch to solidify themselves a spot in the playoffs, but it presents an opportunity for multiple new players to make their debut with the team on Thursday.
Earlier this week, 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced that the team signed former first-round pick Darius Bazley. The young veteran joins the team on a 10-day contract, giving him a near-two-week long tryout.
Will Bazley Play vs. the Knicks?
Hours before the Sixers host the Knicks on Thursday, their G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, will host the Denver Nuggets’ G League squad, Grand Rapids Gold. Bazley has been assigned to the Blue Coats to face the Gold in Wilmington on Thursday morning.
However, the 10-day signee will make the trip to South Philly on Thursday night as the plan is for the Sixers to recall him ahead of the matchup against the Knicks.
Bazley is no stranger to the Sixers’ organization, as he’s spent the 2023-2024 NBA G League season with the Blue Coats after getting traded in November. Since signing his deal, Bazley participated in a practice with the 76ers on Wednesday morning.
The veteran joins the Sixers with 228 games of NBA experience under his belt. After four seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and a seven-game run with the Phoenix Suns, Bazley has averaged nine points, five rebounds, and one assist throughout his career. He’s a 41 percent shooter from the field.
