76ers News: Kelly Oubre Ruled Out for Matchup vs. Kings
On Friday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will look to get back on track following a three-game losing streak. Already down a handful of key players, another one has been sidelined an hour before tip-off.
While he was not first listed on the injury report, Kelly Oubre Jr. is now out against the Sacramento King. The veteran forward has been ruled out due to right toe soreness.
Philly is now down a third rotation player leading up to their meeting with the Kings. Along with Oubre, Joel Embiid and Robert Covington are also sidelined.
Friday will mark the first time Oubre is out of the lineup after missing 11 games due to an automobile accident. This is a tough blow for the Sixers, as he has helped filled the offensive void left by the reigning MVP. In 25 games this season, Oubre is averaging 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 36% from deep.
Over the weekend, Oubre had one of his best performances of the season since returning from injury. In a loss to the Utah Jazz, he notched 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Oubre logged 31 minutes in the Sixers' overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks and finished with a box score of seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Since De'Anthony Melton returned from injury, Oubre has gone back to his role off the bench. With him now out of action, it creates other players to step up and get extended playing time. Due to the Sixers being so depleted against the Kings, guys like Jaden Springer and KJ Martin could get a chance to play in this matchup.
