76ers News: Kelly Oubre's Sixth Man of the Year Odds Revealed
With the Philadelphia 76ers expected to bring in Kelly Oubre to join their squad, one sportsbook is already putting odds on his chances of landing Sixth Man of the Year next season.
According to BetOnline, Oubre is tied for the 13th-best odds to take home the Sixth Man of the Year hardware next season on the opening odds.
With his odds set at 60/1, Oubre is in company with names such as Josh Green, Jose Alvarado, Jordan Clarkson, John Wall, Chris Boucher, and the Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson.
Just last season, Oubre established himself as a full-time starter with the Charlotte Hornets. After coming off the bench for 13 of the 76 games he appeared in during the 2021-2022 season, Oubre was in Charlotte’s starting five for all but eight games last year.
Although the veteran wing has averaged over 30 minutes on the court in two seasons before his last run with the Hornets, he found the most success in their scoring department last year while spending an average of 32 minutes on the floor.
Knocking down 43 percent of his field goals and 32 percent of his threes, Oubre was Charlotte’s third-most productive scorer as he put up a career-high 20 points per game. He trailed the two guards, Terry Rozier and LaMelo Ball, in the scoring department for the Hornets last season.
Do We Like the Chances?
The Sixers have a lot of uncertainty around their squad at the moment. With the James Harden trade saga unresolved, it’s difficult to predict what the starting five will look like on opening night.
While a spot in the starting lineup isn’t a guarantee for Oubre, it’s definitely an option, depending on how he meshes with his teammates throughout training camp. In the event Oubre resumes a reserve role as he’s done in the past, he could insert himself in the Sixth Man convo.
For the time being, it’s a risky thought, and there are plenty of names ahead of him at the moment. Currently, BetOnline’s top five Sixth Man of the Year odds belong to Malik Monk (14/1), Bobby Portis (12/1), Norman Powell (10/1), Malcolm Brogdon (7/1), and Immanuel Quickley (5/1).
