After 18 years in the NBA, Kyle Lowry got to check something big off his bucket list. Following a buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, the veteran guard is now suiting up for his hometown Philadelphia 76ers

Following the All-Star break, Lowry got to suit up for his new team for the first time. Despite a strong surge in the second half, the Sixers were unable to complete a comeback on the New York Knicks. They ended up losing the game by a final score of 110-96.

Aside from a minor injury scare, Lowry performed well in his debut. He logged 25 minutes and finished with a box score of 11 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Following the game, Lowry touched on what the experience was like for him. While he admitted it was a good moment, his focus remains on helping the Sixers win basketball games.

"It was great. It’s unfortunate that we didn’t play as well as I think we can. But it was an amazing atmosphere and the ovation that I got was awesome. I was happy," Lowry said. "You know, I was pissed that we lost, and we were in that situation, but it was a great moment. Now for me it’s about winning basketball games. That first 'hoorah' is over now. It’s about going out there, helping this team win basketball games."

Lowry is a native of Philadelphia and played his college ball at Villanova. Now, after a career headlined by All-Star appearances and a championship, he gets to return home.

Lowry can't bask in the moment too much, as the Sixers find themselves with a quick turnaround. They'll be back in action on Friday night taking on Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers
