This season, the emergence of Tyrese Maxey has been a key storyline for the Philadelphia 76ers. Following one of their recent wins over the Orlando Magic, one of the team's veterans shared his thoughts on a possible All-Star nomination for the young guard.

On Christmas Day against the Miami Heat, Maxey had one of his worst games of the season. He scored just 12 points and shot 4-for-20 from the field. With Joel Embiid out of the lineup again against the Orlando Magic Wednesday, the Sixers needed their lead guard to bounce back in a big way.

Maxey ended up doing just that, notching 23 points and six rebounds in a blowout win over the Magic. Two nights later, he dropped 40 points over the Houston Rockets. After Wednesday’s win, Patrick Beverley made two bold statements about the young star. He had faith that Maxey would be able to bounce back after the loss in Miami, and feels he should be a starter in the All-Star game this year.

Through the first two months of the season, there is no denying that Maxey has been one of the top guards in the Eastern Conference. With James Harden out of the picture now, he has the opportunity to showcase his talents on a nightly basis as the No. 2 option behind Joel Embiid. So far this year, Maxey is putting up averages of 25.8 points and 6.6 assists while shooting close to 40% from beyond the arc.

Between his production and the Sixers being a top team in the East, Maxey has a good chance of being named an All-Star. This will be long overdue recognition for the 23-year-old as he's rapidly developed since being drafted in 2020.
