Despite suffering back-to-back losses over the weekend, the Philadelphia 76ers still find themselves in a good position in the Eastern Conference standings. However, this did cause them to slightly drop in the latest NBA power rankings.

Every week, the people at NBA.com put out an updated power rankings for all 30 teams in the league. Being handed losses by the New York Knicks and Utah Jazz resulted in them dropping one spot from No. 6 to No. 7. Notable teams ahead of them include the LA Clippers, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, and OKC Thunder.

Looking at the standings, the Sixers have a sizable gap in third place. However, there is a wide range of teams on their heels. The Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks are all tied for fourth place at 21-15. Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks have control of second place but only have a one-game lead on the Sixers.

A true sign of a contender in the NBA is being top ten in offense and defense. The Sixers are achieving this mark at the moment. They currently have the league's fifth-best offense along with the third-best defense. Their 8.5 net rating is good for No. 2 in the NBA, trailing only the Boston Celtics.

Right now, the Sixers are enjoying a good break in the schedule. They found themselves with three days off before facing the Atlanta Hawks on a brief road trip. After that, they'll host a trio of competitive Western Conference teams in the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets. This should be a good test for the Sixers as we approach the halfway point in the regular season.
