76ers’ Patrick Beverley Jersey Swaps With Timberwolves Star
On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers took a quick trip to Minnesota to take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first of two matchups this season. To some, the game was just another stop on the journey through the regular season. To Patrick Beverley, it was a reunion.
In the days leading up to the matchup, Beverley recalled his time with Minnesota, sharing nothing but fond memories. He also had a ton of praise for the budding star Anthony Edwards, who continues thriving on the surging Wolves this season.
Following an impressive 31-point performance against the Sixers, Edwards swapped jerseys with Beverley after the game.
Making several pit stops across the league having stints on a handful of teams since he’s been in the NBA, Beverley has a few former homes at this point in his career. Although he spent such a short amount of time on the Timberwolves, Beverley quickly made a strong impact on their team during the 2021-2022 NBA season.
The 2021 offseason is when Beverley landed in Minnesota. Following a four-year run with the Los Angeles Clippers, Beverley was dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies. Months later, Beverley’s debut with Memphis wouldn’t come, as they eventually flipped him to the Timberwolves in exchange for two players.
During the 2021-2022 season, Beverley ended up appearing in 58 games with the Wolves, starting in all but four of those outings. He averaged 25 minutes on the floor, contributing to nine points per game while shooting 41 percent from the field. Beverley also averaged four rebounds and a career-high of five assists per game with the Timberwolves.
Beverley’s most notable contribution to the Timberwolves came during the NBA’s Play-In Tournament. Helping the Timberwolves defeat his old team, the Clippers, Minnesota clinched its first playoff berth since 2018. While the Timberwolves fell short in the first round against the Grizzlies, Beverley helped put together a memorable season in Minnesota.
The Sixers’ veteran wasn’t there for a long time, as he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers the following offseason, but the Timberwolves’ base certainly shows love every time he’s around.
