76ers’ Star Guard Holds Questionable Status vs. Blazers
The Philadelphia 76ers found themselves in a tough spot over the weekend. Facing the defending NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets, the Sixers were quite shorthanded heading into the matchup.
Among the key names the Sixers had listed on their injury report was the rising star guard Tyrese Maxey.
Following Philadelphia’s loss against the Indiana Pacers last Thursday night, the Sixers revealed that Tyrese Maxey had suffered a left ankle sprain. As a result, he was downgraded to questionable against the Nuggets.
Hours before the matchup, the Sixers downgraded Maxey to out. With that, the young guard was absent for just the second time this season. With Maxey out of the mix, the Sixers started the veteran backup, Patrick Beverley.
With so few absences this year, Maxey has yet to miss consecutive games for the Sixers. There’s a chance that Monday night could mark Maxey’s second absence in a row.
According to the 76ers’ injury report, Maxey is once again listed as questionable heading into the matchup.
As the Sixers are looking to climb out of a minor skid, they could use all the help they can get on Monday. This season, Maxey is averaging 26 points, which is the second-most on the Sixers, behind the NBA’s scoring leader, Joel Embiid.
Along with his scoring, Maxey has dished out seven assists per game, which is a team-high. While Maxey’s recent setback hasn’t issued too much concern within the Sixers’ circle, the young guard is likely a game-time decision for Monday’s matchup out West.
The Sixers and the Blazers are set to tip off at 10:30 PM ET.
