On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers’ G League affiliate, Delaware Blue Coats, paid a visit to the Toronto Raptors’ G League affiliate. Searching for their eighth win of the season, the Blue Coats engaged in a tight battle with Raptors 905, coming out on top.

Sixers’ two-way player Javonte Smart was a major key to the Blue Coats’ success on Thursday night. As he checked in for nearly 41 minutes, Smart put together a scoring masterclass, catching fire from beyond the arc.

In total, Smart chucked up 22 shots on Thursday night. From the field, Smart drained 54 percent of his attempts. Amid his dominant scoring showing, Smart attempted 14 shots from beyond the arc. He knocked down all but four of them.

Throughout his shift, Smart scored 40 total points, which marked a game-high for the young veteran guard. Along with his scoring, Smart dished out four assists on the offensive end. He also came down with five rebounds and snatched two steals defensively.

With Smart’s G League career-high-tying 40-point outing and notable scoring help from the recently-acquired Darius Bazley, who scored 26 points, and the rookie two-way player Ricky Council, who scored 25 points, the Sixers’ affiliate put Raptors 905 away with a 125-120 win.

This season, Smart is amidst his first run with the Sixers and the Coats. Since going undrafted out of LSU in 2021, Smart has had runs with several teams in the G League, including affiliates for the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, and the New Orleans Pelicans.

This season, Smart has started in all 13 games he played. Averaging 34 minutes on the court, the Sixers’ two-way guard has put up 21 points per game while knocking down 46 percent of his shots from the field and draining 44 percent of his threes. Along with his scoring, Smart has averaged four rebounds, six assists, and one steal per game.
