When Tyrese Maxey notched a career-high in scoring on Sunday night against the Indiana Pacers, the Philadelphia 76ers’ guard didn’t take any credit for his offensive masterclass.

Instead, he said the game was all Kelly Oubre.

“This had nothing to do with me,” Maxey told NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Taryn Hatcher after the matchup. “This is all Kelly Oubre, man. We’re praying for him, man. Love my dawg, man. I just met him, but I love him. I hope he gets well soon.”

Maxey’s comments came one day after the Sixers’ veteran was hospitalized after getting struck by a motor vehicle near his residence in Center City, Philadelphia. While Oubre was able to get released from the hospital on Saturday night, hours after the incident, he still suffered an injury that took him off the floor ahead of the Sixers’ Sunday night matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

According to team officials, Oubre suffered a fractured rib. As expected, he was not with the team on Sunday night as they faced the Pacers. While the Sixers were affected by the unfortunate events and worried for their teammate, they put together an impressive win led by Maxey, who then wanted to dedicate his performance to Oubre.

From start until finish, Maxey was dominant at home against Indiana on Sunday. He checked into the game for a little under 40 minutes. During that time, he launched 32 shots, which marked a season-high in attempts for the young guard.

However, Maxey’s aggressiveness came with a reliable touch. Clearly, the thriving guard felt he had it going on Sunday, so he kept shooting the rock. As a result, he drilled 60 percent of his shots. Dropping seven of his 11 attempted threes, Maxey collected a career-high 50 points. He also added seven rebounds, five assists, and three blocks to his stat line for the night.

Maxey’s off to a red-hot start this season, but Sunday’s performance was the best showing he had by far. It seems his will to want to win it for Oubre helped give Maxey an extra boost as the Sixers cruised past the Pacers with a 137-126 win.
