76ers Tyrese Maxey Opens up on Relationship With Patrick Beverley
Following their win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers begin preparing to face off against another top team in the Eastern Conference. On Sunday night, they're slated to take on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
Sunday's matchup will feature an array of familiar faces. Most notably, veteran point guard Patrick Beverley. This will be his first time squaring off against the Sixers since he was traded at the deadline for Cam Payne.
After Friday's win, Tyrese Maxey was asked about the upcoming matchup with his former teammate. He stated that the two still talk a lot, and Beverley is someone who he considers a friend in the league.
"I talk to him all the time. Sometimes when I'm playing Call of Duty he joins my party and talks noise and whatever," Maxey said. "I love Pat Bev though honestly. It just comes with the business. It sucks, but I think those are lifelong friendships. I feel like he's made it to where I can call him if I need anything."
Beverley spent just half a season with the Sixers are signing with the team in free agency over the summer. During his short stint in Philly, he averaged 6.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG, and 3.1 APG.
Seeing that he has an extremely competitive nature, Beverley has had this matchup circled on his calendar since the trade. He'll be looking forward to stick it to the organization that traded him away just two weeks ago.
This will be a big matchup for the shorthanded Sixers, as it's a chance to cover some ground in the Eastern Conference standings. Heading into Sunday, the Bucks are two-and-a-half games ahead of the Sixers in third place.
