76ers’ Tyrese Maxey Returns After Injury Scare vs. Mavericks
As the Philadelphia 76ers battled it out with the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon, the Sixers saw their All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey go down with what looked to be a head injury.
Around the four-minute mark in the third quarter, Maxey was looking to drive in the paint when he slipped and fell into a defender. As Maxey fell, his head collided with the knee of a player.
The Sixers’ guard lost control of the ball, resulting in a turnover. As the Mavericks pushed into transition, they had a four-on-five scenario as Maxey remained on the other side of the court.
The young guard was down for a bit before getting helped up and assisted back to the team’s bench. At first, Maxey returned to the Sixers’ bench. Shortly after, he was walked back to the visitors’ locker room to get evaluated further.
Not long after Maxey left to go back to the locker room, he made his way back to the sidelines to join his teammates on the bench. The guard was immediately engaged in the action, showing signs of feeling better after going down.
It appears that Maxey avoided any significant setbacks and will make his way back out on the court to finish off the matchup in Dallas.
When he left the game with an injury, Maxey had played for 27 minutes. Putting up 14 shots from the field, the young guard scored on 57 percent of his attempts. Along with tacking on two free throws, Maxey produced 19 points before checking out late in the third quarter. He was key to the Sixers’ ability to garner a comfortable lead over Dallas in the first three quarters.
