76ers Veteran Shocked Over Pacers’ Style of Attack
There was a whole lot of high-powered offensive play in Sunday night’s matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Indiana Pacers.
By the end of the night, the game totaled 263 points with two teams shooting the ball at an efficient rate.
While the Pacers collectively shot better than the Sixers with an effective field goal percentage of 61.8 percent, it was the speed with which they moved their offense that impressed 76ers veteran Nic Batum.
After the game, the veteran had quite the reaction to Indiana’s pace.
“Oh my god,” said Batum when asked about the Pacers. “ I mean, I’ve been in this league for 16 years. I never seen that before. That’s insane.”
In ten games this season, the Pacers rank second in pace, behind the Washington Wizards. While the Sixers already faced the Wizards this season, taking them on last week in the game that became Batum’s debut with the squad, Indiana’s attack generated a different reaction, considering they are much more productive as an offensive, producing a league-leading 126 points per game.
“That’s insane, though,” he continued. “I mean, the pace we played like ten, I mean they’re young, they’re fast, they got a great coach, they got a great future, though. They are going to be okay.”
Indiana’s attack wasn’t enough to issue the Sixers their first loss since October. Although they took the lead twice on Sunday night, even after trailing by double-digits, the game resulted in a 137-126 win for Philadelphia.
The Sixers and the Pacers will meet again on Tuesday night for a rematch at the Wells Fargo Center. The game serves as the Sixers’ second In-Season Tournament matchup of the year.
