On Thursday night, the Philadelphia 76ers will wrap up their current road trip with a finale against the Utah Jazz. All throughout the stretch, the Sixers have been plagued with injuries and missing some of their core players. The situation could be the same on Thursday.

By now, it’s clear the Sixers will roll without Embiid as he went back to Philadelphia to undergo testing on his knee, which he injured during Tuesday’s loss against the Golden State Warriors.

As for Tyrese Maxey, he’s listed as questionable for the Sixers’ Thursday night matchup in Utah.

Lately, the Sixers’ guard has been dealing with an ankle sprain. Throughout the first half of the season, Maxey avoided setbacks and missed just one outing through the first 43 games of the season.

After last Thursday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers, the streak of avoiding consecutive absences was broken. As the Sixers faced the Denver Nuggets last Saturday, Maxey was downgraded to questionable and eventually ruled out.

The same went for the next two matchups of the back-to-back set against the Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors.

Whether the trend will continue or not on Thursday is currently unclear. With Maxey out of the mix, the Sixers have started Patrick Beverley in his spot. As a seasoned veteran with a ton of experience under his belt, Beverley served the Sixers well in Maxey’s absence.

Yet, it hasn’t made much of a difference for Philadelphia. In all three games Maxey missed, the Sixers were winless. While a handful of absences across the board also played a part in the Sixers’ struggles, missing a potential first-time All-Star is significant no matter what.

If Maxey gets the opportunity to return to the court on Thursday, it would be his first outing since January 25. The last time he saw the court, Maxey dropped 22 points in a 12-point loss against the Pacers.
