76ers vs. Magic: Joel Embiid's Playing Status on Monday
When the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Orlando Magic Monday night, Joel Embiid will be available after being listed as questionable due to foot soreness.
Embiid’s been a consistent name on the Sixers’ injury report as of late. Throughout the year, the big man has missed time due to several reasons, but his foot has given him consistent complications throughout the year.
After suffering a mid-foot sprain in late November, Embiid went on to miss four-straight games. When he returned to action on November 28, Embiid appeared in 16 straight games. Averaging 35 minutes on the court during that time, Embiid put up 34 points per game while coming down with ten rebounds and dishing out five assists per matchup.
In early January, Embiid tweaked his foot in the matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. He then went on to miss the next three games before returning to the floor on January 10 against the Detroit Pistons. Embiid’s healthy streak then lasted six games before he missed the January 21 matchup on the road against the Sacramento Kings.
When Embiid missed the Kings matchup, it was due to injury management related to his foot. Before the following two games, the Sixers placed Embiid on the injury report, listing him as questionable due to foot soreness. Although he was in danger of missing those games, the big man played.
In those two matchups against the Brooklyn Nets and the Denver Nuggets, Embiid averaged 37 points, 14 rebounds, and four assists in 36 minutes.
He'll look to continue his hot streak on Monday night as he faces the Magic for the first time season after missing the first two matchups in Orlando.
