76ers vs. Nuggets: Tyrese Maxey’s Playing Status on Saturday
After getting a day off on Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to take the court again on Saturday night. They’ll go head-to-head with the NBA Champions, the Denver Nuggets.
The Sixers were fortunate to avoid any injuries to their star center, Joel Embiid, in Friday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers. While Embiid was seen grabbing at his knee at one point, the big man was left off the injury report for the road matchup in Denver.
The same can’t be said about the star guard Tyrese Maxey.
According to the Sixers’ injury report, Maxey was listed as questionable due to an ankle sprain. It appears the young ball-handler tweaked his ankle during the team’s Thursday night matchup on the road against the Indiana Pacers.
Will Maxey Play vs. Nuggets?
Unfortunately, the Sixers have downgraded Maxey to out for Saturday's game against Denver.
This season, Maxey has just one absence under his belt. When the Sixers faced the Boston Celtics on December 1, the young guard was ruled out with an illness.
Since then, he’s appeared in 24 straight games, averaging 37 minutes on the floor. During that stretch, the Sixers’ guard has put up 25 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc.
In the playmaking department, Maxey has been dishing out seven assists per game, turning the ball over twice per outing.
When the Sixers and the Nuggets battled it out a couple of weeks back, Maxey checked in for nearly 43 minutes. During that time, he drained nine of his 20 shots from the field, scoring his average of 25 points. He also racked up nine assists while coming down with five rebounds.
