The Philadelphia 76ers’ 2023-2024 schedule is set. On Thursday, the league-wide announcement took place on ESPN’s NBA Today during an afternoon segment.

As expected, the Sixers will open up the season against their Eastern Conference rival, the Milwaukee Bucks. The rest of the schedule goes as follows:

This year, Philadelphia will look to maintain their status as playoff contenders in the East, hoping to finally get over the second-round hump under new head coach Nick Nurse.

Last year, the Sixers finished third in the Eastern Conference with a 54-28 record. They trailed the second-seeded Boston Celtics and the first-seeded Bucks.

After picking up a first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, the 76ers advanced with ease, collecting a sweep.

Unfortunately, their run ended in the second round. Despite getting a 3-2 lead over the Celtics heading back home for Game 6, the Sixers failed to close out the round on top. A tight loss in Game 6 led to a blowout defeat for Game 7 on the road.

Now, the Sixers face some uncertainty while heading into the new basketball season. The glaring question mark surrounding the team revolves around the ten-time All-Star guard James Harden. As the guard opted in with a desire to be traded, the situation between Harden and the Sixers could get ugly before the season begins. And if he remains on the roster, there is a chance the Sixers have yet, another awkward start to a critical year by keeping a disgruntled member in the locker room.

In addition to the Harden saga, the Sixers have also made some key changes during the offseason. When free agency opened up last month, several rotational pieces found new homes, including Georges Niang, Shake Milton, and Jalen McDaniels.

As far as signings go, the Sixers brought on the veteran guard Patrick Beverley along with the veteran big man Mo Bamba via free agency. The team also retained the young center Paul Reed and brought over their former second-round pick Filip Petrusev, who was stashed overseas. While Montrezl Harrell also returned for another go-round in Philadelphia, a knee injury will likely sideline him for the entire year.

The 76ers have a lot to prove next season, as their MVP center Joel Embiid remains in his prime. It’s unclear how they’ll respond after another disappointing playoff loss followed by an offseason full of drama, but soon enough, we’ll find out what this roster’s got.
